Scientific Method


1. Hypothesis A prediction that can be tested by experiment or observation. An educated guess.
2. Conclusion The last part of something. A final summing up.
3. Observation An act of gathering information using all of your senses.
4. Investigation An active effort to find something out.
5. Variable The part of an experiment that changes. Either something that you change, or the results of the experiment.
6. Model A representation of something that is too large or too small to understand easily.
7. Theory An idea backed by actual results from experiments.
8. Law A rule stating something that ALWAYS works in the same way under the same condition.
9. Compare To look for similarities and differences.
10. Contrast To compare two things to show differences between them.
